MEASURING A YEAR
As 2007 comes to a close, Hopelink has compiled a list of the agency's accomplishments over the last twelve months,
made possible through the support of donors, grantors and volunteers. 50,000 lives were changed for the better because
of the community's generosity.
Food
- 13,552 individuals were served by a Hopelink food bank.
- 2,822,223 pounds of food were distributed through our food banks.
- 3,044 emergency food bags were distributed to hungry people.
Home
- Over 600 families found a safe and secure place to sleep through Hopelink's Emergency and Transitional Housing.
- 3,893 households kept their power on because of $1,445,929 provided in energy assistance.
- 605 households avoided eviction because of help from Hopelink.
- 4,354 households received help with energy assistance last year, a 20% increase from the previous year due
to increased costs for energy. This amounted to $1,651,846 in assistance.
Help
- Hopelink provided 2,091,605 rides to people needing to go to work school and medical appointments.
- 5,450 children received their holidays gifts through Hopelink.
- 700 people made steps to better their lives by taking classes presented by Hopelink in financial
management, cooking on budget, computer education and parenting.
- 191 basic literacy students received tutoring.
- 970 ESL students were coached by Hopelink.
- 1,648 children received school supplies through Hopelink.
- 1,456 households accessed healthcare services.
- 72,934 interpreter encounters for medical services scheduled.
- 158 households received assistance for medical prescriptions.
- 51 students in 23 sessions attended Cooking on a Budget classes.
- 114 students in 40 sessions attended Money Management Classes.
- 332 students participated in one-on-one computer tutoring, computer classes and labs.
- 81% of computer students achieved the class or individual goal.
- 78% of Money Management students achieved over 80% of their learning goals.
- 98% of Financial Foundations students learned to assess which assets they already have.
- 95% of Financial Foundations students learned to create a timeline to successfully reach their goals.
- 86% of Banking and Budgeting students successfully learned how to create a budget.
- 81% of Banking and Budgeting students learned new ways to save money.
- 91% of Credit Management students successfully learned to read and understand their credit report as well
as how to correct it.
- 89% of Credit Management students learned how to avoid identity theft.
Volunteerism
- 28 volunteers served as cooking, financial management facilitators and childcare assistants.
- 58 volunteers served as computer tutors, teachers and teachers assistants.
- Interpreters were used where appropriate.
