Bus Buddy Group Excursion
The Bus Buddy Group Excursion program is designed to give a safe, convenient introduction to using public transit as part of a group trip sponsored by a social service agency or nonprofit organization.
- Volunteer interpreters, covering 17 languages, may be available to assist during your excursion.
- Travel orientation and excursions to fun and useful destinations are for seniors, people with limited English, low income, people with special needs and youth.
- Our goal is to give the new rider the confidence to travel in and around the area beginning with a group excursion. The new rider can then use our individual Bus Buddy program for further practice until the person is ready to ride solo.
- This program will give new riders greater options for their travel needs, enhancing their mobility and increasing their choices for getting to work, shopping and other activities.
Bus Buddy Group Excursion Steps
- Social service agency staff will meet with Bus Buddy program staff to review the program options and plan a trip for agency clients.
- Before the day of the trip, the agency will prepare the group for what to expect on the trip, including helping the new riders prepare their Regional Reduced Fare Permit forms, if needed, the amount of walking required, dressing for the weather and the possible lack of available seating on the bus.
- On the day of the trip, a brief presentation before boarding the bus will give the new riders an overview of the transit system and the trip.
- After the trip, we'll discuss the experience and answer any questions.
- Agency may plan future trips.
