Transportation & DART

From critical trips to kidney dialysis and chemotherapy treatments for cancer patients, to daily trips to Children’s Hospital and for seniors who must have routine medical visits to avoid nursing homes, transportation can make the crucial difference between being homebound and isolated, or healthy and active. Hopelink Transportation is that essential link for thousands of underserved members of our community needing transportation.

Medicaid Transportation -- In partnership with the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Hopelink coordinates transportation to and from medical appointments for low income residents on Medicaid assistance. Hopelink arranges the most appropriate, least costly method of transportation.

To qualify, customers must:

  • Have a current Medical Assistance Identification Card.
  • Have no other way to reach their medical appointment.
  • Be going to a medical service covered by their Medicaid program.

DART -- Hopelink operates Dial-a-Ride Transit (DART) under a contract with King County Metro. DART offers variable routing in some areas within King County. It operates on a fixed schedule with more flexibility than regular Metro Transit buses. Request a DART pick-up

Hopelink Transportation also offers the following services:

  • Bus Buddy Program. Learn to use public transit through individual training or in groups. Bus Buddy Volunteers available to train in 17 languages.
  • Travel Ambassador Program. Tools for social service professionals to provide transit options information for their clients.
  • Schedulers at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to arrange non-emergency patient and staff transportation and package delivery.
  • Schedulers at Seattle Children's Hospital arrange non-emergency patient transportation.
  • Brokering transportation for clients of contracting school districts, social service and healthcare agencies throughout King County.
  • Technical assistance, such as driver training and vehicle acquisition, to other organizations developing and operating transportation services.
